Yesterday Perry came to Dannal and told him that he wanted us to film a short spot with him asking for donations for our new building. So Dannal and I sat down and came up with a plan. We decided to set the studio for a stand up set with Perry next to a screen.
Since Perry would be doing the ask off the cuff, we wouldn’t be able to follow along and change the graphics while he talked. But we didn’t have a lot of time to make graphics anyway. So I sat down in front of our graphics computer and threw something together.
I took the 30th anniversary graphic we had and stuck it on a nice blue gradient background. Then I just grabbed the snow flakes I had put together for the Morning Show Christmas graphic and just stuck those on this graphic. Done.
We moved all the Christmasy looking stuff around the TV in the studio and called it a set. Once Perry was in there I did a slow tracking shot as he talked. He only needed two takes and he had it.
On post, I reworked the graphics I had made into a simple baseline and full screen graphic and threw it all together with some Christmas stock music. It took some tinkering just like most edits but it came together pretty easily.
And here’s the finished product!
