I’m Really Glad That I’m a Good Dad

I know some people who have had bad parents. I know a few couples who are or have been foster parents and I’ve heard some stories about why those kids are with them instead of the kids’ parents. There are some horrible things that people do to their kids and I’m really glad that I’m a good dad and that my kids won’t have to go through any of that.

I’m not a perfect dad. I wouldn’t even say I’m a great dad. But I am a good dad.

My kids won’t ever have a flat head because they were never held when they were infants. My kids won’t ever have to live with the knowledge that they only exist because their dad raped their mom. They’ll never have to grow up with just a mom because their dad bailed. They’ll never be molested by their dad. They’ll never die alone, left in a hot car by their dad. They’ll never starve to death because their dad never fed them. They’ll never have to walk to school barefoot because their dad doesn’t buy them shoes. They’ll never get weird yeast infections on their face because their dad left them in their car seat all day with a bottle of milk. They’ll never need several of their teeth replaced with fake ones before they even get their adult teeth because their dad doesn’t make them brush.

I want to be a better parent for my kids, but at least I know I’m a good dad.

Josiah Douglas isn't a super smart guy (even though he has a bachelor's degree), and he doesn't know a lot about God (his degree is in theology), but he does think a lot and sometimes he writes those things down so that you can read them too!
