Free Books

Free Books

I love books. Books are the best. I have a pretty hefty library, but I have a little secret. I hardly ever read them.

I read stuff online all the time. And I’ve read a couple of books on the Kindle app on my phone, but it’s been a long time since I’ve read a book. But I love having them.

At work we recently interviewed someone about a book they wrote. It sounded so cool. The book is about the trumpet days talked about in Revelation and he points to things that are happening now that match up extremely well with what the Bible talks about for each of the trumpets. I got really excited about what he was talking about, so the producer gave me a copy of the book. I really want to know more about the trumpets and how they match up to stuff that’s happening now, but to be honest, I probably won’t read it.

The other day there was a box at my church with a sign saying “free books.” I was really excited about the books. I went to the box (when I should have been in the service, mind you) and started looking through it. These weren’t the typical free books. These ones were great! There were so many that I wanted to take home, but if I did they would just sit on my book shelf.

One year for my birthday, my wife got me a book that I wanted to read that was on sale. I knew she had bought it, but it was put away for a few weeks until my birthday. My birthday came, but she didn’t give me the book. Christmas is only a month after my birthday so I figured she would give it to me then. But then christmas came and she didn’t give it to me then either. So a couple days after I finally asked, “are you ever going to give me that book?” She had forgotten all about it. So she went and got it and gave it to me. I still haven’t read it. I started to read it a few weeks ago, but I sort of just stopped.

I read articles about all kinds of stuff online everyday. I like picking out a few and sitting and reading them after work. But I think I get bored with reading the same thing for very long. I think my attention span has gotten short enough that if it’s longer than a couple pages, I can’t finish it. I know some people will read a few pages or chapters of one book, then switch to another and go back and forth until they finish them all. I’ve tried this in the past but I’ve always gotten them confused together when I do that. Maybe I should try that again.

Does anyone else have problems with reading books even though you love to read or just love the books like I do?

Josiah

Josiah Douglas isn't a super smart guy (even though he has a bachelor's degree), and he doesn't know a lot about God (his degree is in theology), but he does think a lot and sometimes he writes those things down so that you can read them too!
