Recently there was a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Nepal. The devastation is pretty drastic and the death toll keeps getting higher. There are a lot of relief organizations in Nepal and they’re all doing good work, but if you want to help it’s hard to know who to give to. Here’s two that I like.
Operation Blessing is the humanitarian arm of CBN. They go all over the world helping people when there’s a disaster and to places that just need help even when there’s not a disaster. They do a good job of not only giving to people in need, but also teaching people how take care of themselves once they’re gone.
Samaritan’s Purse is a part of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Around Christmas they send shoeboxes full of toys, hygiene products and the message of Christ to children all over the world. But that’s not the only time Samaritan’s Purse helps people. Just like Operation Blessing, Samaritan’s Purse sends in relief after disasters and is constantly working to help the helpless across the globe.
Both of these organizations are doing good work by helping people when they need it, but they are also sharing the gospel at the same time. If you feed someone, but you don’t feed their soul, then it’s not helpful for that person for more than a little while. If you help someone, and bring them to Christ then you’ve saved them for eternity. That’s what Operation Blessing and Samaritan’s Purse are doing everyday.
If you feel lead, you should support one or both of these great organizations.
