You need to read the Bible. I know it’s boring, but you need to read it!
When it comes to explaining to a new Christian the things they should know, reading the Bible is one of the most important. It’s also pretty simple to explain.
Why should I read the Bible?
The Bible is the Word of God. God inspired several individuals over a course of hundreds of years to write down what He wanted them to write down. After some time God inspired other people to verify the authenticity and inspiration of these writings and put them together so that people can read it.
God did all of this so that people can read it and to know the story of God’s love for His creation. That’s pretty cool.
If the creator of the universe wrote a book that told you how to live, wouldn’t you want to read it?
When should I read the Bible?
A lot. What most people will tell is that you should read the Bible everyday. I have a hard time with that. I’m sure a lot of people do. But it’s a good goal. Once you reach that goal then you can make a bigger goal. What should that bigger goal be? I don’t know. I’ll tell you when I make the first goal of reading everyday.
That’s it?
That’s it. The principle of reading the Bible is simple, but it’s one of the most important. If you can get reading the Bible right, then almost every other Christian fundamental will fall into place.
That’s the cool thing about the Bible. When the God of the universe writes a book, it makes a big impression.
