Whoever pampers his servant from childhood will in the end find him his heir. – Proverbs 29:21
I’ve been reading Proverbs and this verse jumped out at me. It’s talking about actual servants and masters, but I think it’s a beautiful picture of God’s love for us.
A master doesn’t have to be nice to his servants. The servants serve him the way he likes. But a good master takes care of his servants. If there is one that he really likes, he may take him in and even though he’s still a servant, the master will treat him as his own son.
God is our master. That means that our role in life is to serve him. But the wonderful thing is that God is a good master. He doesn’t just make us serve him, he takes care of us. He pampers us from childhood and in the end, we become heirs in His kingdom.
It’s just a nice little reminder of where we have come from, who we are, and what we will become in Christ.
This a little something from my devotions. You can read more of them here.
