The Light In Your Eyes

Not long ago we had a guest on theDove who is a seminary professor in Lebanon. Take a look at this clip from his interview.

Through the entire interview (which you can watch here) Daniel Chetti talked pretty normally, glad to be there, but not particularly excited. But in the clip above, his eyes start to sparkle. His face lights up like he had been waiting the entire interview to say this one thing. What does he say that brightens up his face so much? “For God so loved the world.”

The most exciting thing that Daniel Chetti has to talk about is the Gospel. He doesn’t get excited about Middle East politics. He doesn’t get fired up about his trip to America. He doesn’t even seem very interested in the Bible College he teaches at. But when Daniel Chetti speaks about God’s love for His creation, his eyes brighten, his voice gets sing-songy and he can hardly hold back a smile.

What do you get excited about? Do you really love talking about your job? New smartphones? Yourself?

There are several things that I love talking about. I get a smile on my face and I have a hard time changing the subject. But what I really want to get excited about is the same thing that lights Daniel Chetti’s fire. The Gospel.

The Gospel is the most important thing we can talk about. It’s also the most exciting. I think you (and I) really need to start showing it.

Josiah

Josiah Douglas isn't a super smart guy (even though he has a bachelor's degree), and he doesn't know a lot about God (his degree is in theology), but he does think a lot and sometimes he writes those things down so that you can read them too!
