What God Can't Do

Could Jesus microwave a burrito so hot that he himself could not eat it?

Wow, as melon scratchers go, that's a honey-doodle.

Have you ever been plagued with a senseless question about God? “Could Jesus microwave a burrito so hot that He Himself could not eat it?” seemed to stump Ned Flanders, but it shouldn’t stump you. There are actually many things God can’t do. He can’t violate His own laws or break His word. There is also something God can’t do that most Christians don’t know about. Something you should know.

“I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.
Isaiah 43:25

Did you catch that? Here’s another one,

And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Jeremiah 31:34

Did you see it? God doesn’t remember your sins anymore. Once you ask for forgiveness, God blots out the memory of your sin. He can’t remember them even if He tried.

Now, really think about this. What does this mean for you?

How often have you thought about your past with regret? Have you ever wished you hadn’t of done something? Do you ever think that there’s no way God can really forgive you or use you because of the sin you used to participate in? I know I have. But that’s not how God sees it. God doesn’t hold those sins against you because He can’t, He can’t even remember them!

This isn’t a license to sin, and it by no means removes the consequences of sin that you may feel here on earth, but you don’t need to spend your life feeling guilty for the sins of your past. God can’t remember them, why should you?

God doesn’t forget your sins unless you ask Him to come into your life and forgive them. If you’ve never done that, go read this.

Josiah Douglas isn't a super smart guy (even though he has a bachelor's degree), and he doesn't know a lot about God (his degree is in theology), but he does think a lot and sometimes he writes those things down so that you can read them too!
