When Satan Steps Up His Game

When Satan Steps Up His Game

Whenever I’m about to do something new or better for Jesus, the devil steps up his game.

Have you ever started to do something new in your life, and everything just seems to go wrong? In my experience, the devil loves to hit me with attack after attack after attack whenever I’m about change something in my life. Sometimes the attacks are happening all around me, and sometimes they’re all in my mind.

In my third year of Bible college, I already had an associate’s level education and would end with a bachelor’s that year, I had more responsibility, and all of the buttons in my mind and heart were being pushed. Satan knew I was nearing the end of my education and that my future held a lot of promise, so he hit me in my mind.

Years later, my wife and I decided that we wanted to eventually work in the ministry. We scheduled a meeting with our pastor to talk to him about this, and for a week leading up to the meeting, everything went wrong in our life. Satan hit us physically with sickness, car problems and a bunch of other stuff.

Satan and his demons like to hit you when you are the most of a threat. If you are about to do something that will go against what he wants to do, i.e. helping to build God’s kingdom, Satan wants to get you to stop, so he hits you. And sometimes he hits you hard.

If you are always living an easy lifestyle where nothing ever goes wrong, you might not be in the will of God. From my experience, and the stories of others, when you are doing God’s will you usually get attacked from Satan. If you never try to do anything for God, why would Satan waste his time on you?

When you are getting hit by attacks from Satan, and you know it’s because you are doing what God told you to do, or you are starting a new chapter in your life with God, don’t stop moving forward. Whether the attacks are coming in physical form or in the form of thoughts and feelings in your head, don’t give up. Don’t give into the attacks and back away from what God is calling you to do. Instead, push forward through the attacks and do what you know God wants you to do.

…I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:18

Josiah Douglas isn't a super smart guy (even though he has a bachelor's degree), and he doesn't know a lot about God (his degree is in theology), but he does think a lot and sometimes he writes those things down so that you can read them too!
